Bike Decision Made
June 23, 2011 at 12:01 Bianchi Camaleonte Due
I ended up going with a Bianchi based on a lot of recommendations both for their design and durability. I wanted a bike that I could use both on trails/vacation and also for commuting so went with a hybrid. For commuting, I will be riding in Boston and Worcester. Given the condition of Worcester's streets and the neighborhood I live in, I wanted a bike that would do well with potholes, debris, bad weather, etc. I also don't ride well in the traditional road fashion so wanted a bike I could be upright on but could also reconfigure the seat for riding on the Cape or on trails.
The Camaleonte line has several different models: Uno, Due, Quattro. The Uno and Quattro are similar bikes with v brakes. Brakes were a big purchasing decision point for me. The Due has mechanical disk brakes which were an attraction. The weather here can be pretty bad having disc brakes was an attraction as compared to the v brakes which can work less effectively in bad weather, warp the rim and have a much different braking feel.
It should come in a week. Excited about getting it and being able to save on fuel by not driving my car around Worcester and to to the Zen center during the week.
