I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut Health Center where I teach in the medical school and MPH program. My primary areas of teaching include:

  1. Healthcare reform.
  2. Teaching law to medical and public health students.
  3. Interdisciplinary teaching methods.

In my work, I am particularly interested in health reform and the elimination of disparities based on race and ethnicity and opportunities to use the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to improve access and to reduce health disparities.

I got my degree in theology from Harvard Divinity School where I focused on Catholic moral theology and bioethics. Following that, I earned a law degree from Northeastern University School of Law. I did work on law and childhood obesity before accepting a position at UCHC.

I am a Zen Buddhist and practice in the Boundless Way School which is primarily Soto but also offers koan study. I am currently engaged in koan study with my teacher there. I spend a lot of time hiking and camping and am a fan of dystopic science fiction.

This is my website with a lot of information about me, my courses, and my work. It also includes occasional personal reflections and scraps of things I think are important or don't want to forget. It of course doesn’t represent the opinion of my employers nor any organization I am affiliated with.
